Establishment
The Global Open University, Nagaland, legislated by the Government of Nagaland under The Global Open University Act 2006 (Act 3 of 2006) received the assent of the Governor of Nagaland on 30 August 2006 and was notified vide Notification number Law/Act-10/2006 on 18 September 2006. The provisions of The Global Open University Act 2006 were published in the Nagaland Official Gazette on 18 September 2006 for general information.

Campuses of the University : The Global Open University, Nagaland is headquartered at Wokha and the Branch Campuses have been established at Kohima and Dimapur.

Wokha Campus : Land has been acquired for the Main Campus of The Global Open University. The Government of Nagaland has been approached for allowing the Higher Secondary School, the Civil Hospital and the Animal Husbandry Campus to be used by the The Global Open University for conducting theory and practical classes at Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral levels. The Christian Medical Centre Authorities have allotted a separate building to The Global Open University for conducting para-medical courses with a view to preparing a competent cadre of young professionals in the areas of medical laboratory technology, radiology and imaging technology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, optometry, nursing and other related vocational and job oriented training programmes.

Kohima Campus : A Corporate Office of The Global Open University has been set up at Kohima with all computer, internet and reprographic facilities for conducting distance learning programmes at M.Phil., M.A./M.Sc./M.B.A.,
Post Graduate Diploma and B.Sc./B.A./B.B.A./B.C.A. levels. A National Resource Centre has been established by The Global Open University at Kohima for preparing self instructional materials to be used by the students admitted in different programmes related to intellectual property rights, remote sensing, total quality management, bioinformatics, ecotourism, geriatric care, sustainable development, environmental sciences, medicinal plants etc.

Dimapur Campus : The Government of Nagaland have allotted the Youth Hostel Complex, Dimapur to The Global Open University for conducting tourism, hotel management, catering technology, applied nutrition and other job oriented courses for the benefit of young boys and girls from Nagaland.
